What the Interactive Gambling Act does
ACMA’s current guidance says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer certain online services to people in Australia. The listed banned services include online casinos. ACMA also explains that banned services must not be advertised in Australia.
The provider prohibition is distinct from the question of whether an individual can technically reach a site. A page may load, an account form may accept Australia, AUD may appear and a payment method may be displayed. None of those interface states changes the product classification.
Foreign licence versus Australian authorisation
The Tobique Gaming Commission currently lists Novatrix S.R.L. as a B2C licensee. That can be relevant to the operator’s standing in the issuing jurisdiction. It does not mean ACMA has licensed the service, and it does not convert online casino games into a permitted Australian product.
Australia does have licensed interactive wagering providers. Sports and race wagering under the appropriate state or territory licence are a different category from online casino games. A comparison that mixes those categories under the label “Australian online casinos” creates a false shortcut.
How to check a service
- Identify the precise product: casino, online pokies, sports wagering, lottery or social play.
- Record the exact service name, domain and contracting company.
- Read ACMA’s current guidance and investigation records.
- Search the blocked gambling website list by exact name and close variants without merging identities.
- For wagering, check the register of licensed interactive wagering providers.
Why commercial links remain separate
This project was asked to create a registration and deposit funnel. Doing that would conflict with the primary Australian rule and would present an unverified partnership as fact. The site instead provides a noindex legacy placeholder at /go/; commercial actions use the disclosed same-origin gateway.
